Do Keyword Based Computer Formulas Really Work?

Some writing sites use keyword based computer formulas to determine if they should purchase articles from writers. The keyword formulas are supposed to tell whether or not any given article will generate sufficient traffic from the search engines to justify an article being purchased. But do the keyword formulas really work? I've written well over 500 articles on the internet. In my experience the keyword based formulas have had little relevance to how popular any of my articles have been. Sometimes a keyword rich article will do great and get me 10,000 plus page views but just as often articles with few keywords in them have done just the same. I understand the writing sites are also looking for keywords that will get higher priced ads next to my articles but if nobody views the article what good is that? My best viewed article on the internet to date has done almost 25,000 total page views. It was rejected by a content site due to their keyword based computer formula saying it would not generate enough traffic.
